RECENT WORK
January 21st, 2010 by Scott Godlewski, Posted in News | 0 Comments>>

Anyone who knows me knows how highly I regard the work of Sean Murphy. That's why January 21st marked the first time in recent memory that I made the trip to my local shop with the intention of buying a new comic.

Having followed Sean both on his deviantART page and his own website, I've been looking forward to this book for some time.  Honestly, I've been looking forward to ANYTHING from Sean that I could actually hold in my hands.  Both his Teen Titans and Hellblazer issues have yet to see print (though the Hellblazer issues are to be scheduled shortly), and I still haven't gotten my hands on a copy of his creator-owned OGN's Off Road and Outer Orbit (with Zach Howard).

Say what you will about Grant Morrison's script for Joe the Barbarian #1, but no one can deny that the real star here is Sean's art.  I don't know that there's any other artist working today that can be called a true master of their craft.  There's not too much in the art world that tops a Sean Murphy comic page.  Sean is a sorely underexposed talent that is primed to finally collect the accolades he so richly deserves. I implore you to make the trek down to your shop and pick up a copy of Joe.  And for only a $1 cover price, it's the bargain of the millenium.
